How To Delete A Domain In ClickFunnels


Have you set up a custom domain in your ClickFunnels account and now need to delete it? I had the same issue the other day. I had to go do a little bit of research on my end and decided to document it so it would be useful to you as well.

There are a couple of things you’ll need to do in order to make sure you delete a domain in ClickFunnels completely. First you’ll remove it from ClickFunnels in your Account Settings. Then you’ll need to head to your domain registrar and change your CNAME settings there as well. Below we’ll explore how you can do that step-by-step.

It’s key to note here that this article won’t cover removing a domain that you purchased through ClickFunnels. However, if you own your domain through any number of domain registrars such as Namecheap or GoDaddy, this article with show you how to remove it quickly and easily.

How To Remove Your Custom Domain In ClickFunnels

Access Your ClickFunnels Account Here

Step 1: In your ClickFunnels account you will need to navigate to your Account Settings and then click on “Domains”

Step 2: Head to the Domain you would like to remove and click the “Three Dot” Icon on the right side of the domain and then Click Edit

Step 3: At the Bottom of the page you’ll see the “Remove Domain” section. Click Expand

Step 4: Click the “Yes, Delete this domain” Button

Removing ClickFunnels From Your CNAME Record

Once you’ve removed the Custom Domain from ClickFunnels you’ll then want to make changes to the CNAME at your domain registrar. In this section we’ll walk you through changing your CNAME record for the two most popular Domain Registrars, GoDaddy and Namecheap.

Note: The process is similar will all domain registrars and hosting accounts. If you are stuck in any area be sure to reach out to your provider for help.

Removing ClickFunnels From Your CNAME Record in GoDaddy

Access Your Godaddy Account Here

Step 1: Log into your GoDaddy Account and select Manage All under Domains

Step 2: Select the domain that you want to remove the CNAME from

Step 3: At the bottom of the page select Manage DNS

Step 4: Select the CNAME for “www” and click the pencil icon to edit.

Step 5: Remove “target.clickfunnels.com” and point the “www” to your root domain.

Example: For this site the root domain is launchsalesfunnels.com, so it would look something like. CNAME – www – launchsalesfunnels.com – 1 hour

Note: In GoDaddy the root domain may show the @ sign after you click save. That’s normal.

Removing ClickFunnels From Your CNAME Record in Namecheap

Access Your Namecheap Account Here

Step 1: Log into your Namecheap Account and from the Dashboard select Manage next to the domain

Step 2: On the domain page select the “Advanced DNS” tab

Step 3: Click on the value section CNAME Record for “www” and remove target.clickfunnels.com

Step 4: Enter your root domain in the value area where you removed target.clickfunnels.com and then click the green check to save

Example: For this site the root domain is launchsalesfunnels.com, so it would look something like. CNAME Record – www – launchsalesfunnels.com – automatic

Deleting Your Domain In ClickFunnels Summary

That covers pretty much everything you need to know about deleting your domain in ClickFunnels. It’s as simple as jumping into your ClickFunnels Account, removing your domain, and then editing the CNAME with your domain registrar.

Once you’ve removed your domain from ClickFunnels and then edited the specific CNAME from your domain registrar you’ll be all set to do whatever you wish with your domain. Whether, that’s setting up a blog through something like WordPress or using another Sales Funnel app.
